It's currently 7.02am, so I am busy loading up on food at the moment!! I had a big breakfast with pumpkin seed toast, eggs, tomato, mushroom and baby spinach, a big glass of orange juice, and a cup of coffee (I know, I know, but if I have one cup of coffee in the morning I find that I don't get lack of caffeine migrains). I drank way too much water last night and was up at 3am with a full bladder, and am sipping on water at the moment. I'm going to get some seeds and nuts to nibble on until I have a couple of dates at 7.25am.
So I'll reply here more when my stomach is telling me that I had a very early breakfast and food please? around 11am-3pm.
I did feel so very touristy while fasting, but I think and hope I did it justice, and having alarms going off all day to remind me to think about what I was doing and have a "spiritual moment" helped with that.
The suburb next to mine has a very large multicultural population, and I'm sure that if I caught the bus there I'd have had a lot more halal options -- but I didn't think of that in time, so I went with what I hope is a fairly safe breakfast that way. The local supermarket DID have a big mejool dates stand with recipes for breaking the fast at Ramadan.
(I figure extra steps are necessary, given I have so much less fasting time than everyone in the northern hemisphere!)
