My six year old student was on the verge of tears a few weeks ago after some kid in his class pushed him. He said that he never wanted to come back to school again. When I responded with, "Oh, that's too bad that you're leaving school. We have cookies upstairs for Tana's birthday," he did an instant 180. Suddenly, he was chipper and skipping down the hallway saying, "Cookies! Yum!"

Never underestimate the power of baked goods.
