we had hear about it here and it is horrifying, I am so sad for those who have lost loved ones and/or property

:) Wow, I'm amazed news of it as travelled so far. We're all horrified in Australia because it's our worst disaster... but I wouldn't have thought other countries would have reported it (except New Zealand, because apparently our smoke travelled over to there).

Thanks for the thought to help though, I appreciate it.

We are going to donate $100, which I will do today, but somehow it seems so insignificant compared to what they will need, but we can't afford to donate more... so I figure if I can help raise more through other means, then every bit helps.

oh yes, it was on the major news programs and it had a full page in our newspaper, it's horrible, I'm so sorry!

if everyone gave 100, it would go a long way wouldn't it, no-body can do it all, you are doing what you can !

todays newspaper says "it's our fault, they are paying the price for the abuse of the environment, global warming has turned Australia into a tinderbox"

I found a youtube video of the "small" fire in the town I live in. We weren't in any danger, were not close to there, but that's the major road through the town... which they ended up closing.... The trainline is behind that stretch of houses, and it was damaged by the fire so they had to cancel all trains for a few days.
