My Advent Calendar- Day Six

Tis better to give than to receive...

I love buying and making presents for my friends and family. Financial constraints make it a challenge, and living abroad as I do now means that maybe two of my friends will receive gifts this year (international shipping is a nightmare!). I love holiday_wishes, and I know how much it blows not to be able to afford to grant as many wishes as I would like. I find that I get a big charge out of finding folks who want nontangibles -- book recommendations, blog recs, new LJ friends -- and granting as many of those as I can. They take only time and thought, but they make someone happy. I'm blessed to be able to grant a lot of tangible wishes this year, but last year and year before I was pretty poor and focused on the types of gifts that didn't take postage :)

I love it too! This is only my second time participating--I took a hiatus because I felt guilty about being unable to fulfill many wishes. I have a lot of free time, though, if not money, so I keep searching for & fulfilling the intangibles as well. I think I've spent hours reading fanfics and blogs and leaving feedback for them. But it's the least I can do. :)

I love making gifts, too. I am currently trying to finish my oldest nephew's quilt--last one and all the nieces and nephews will have quilts from their auntie. ;) At least until more show up . . . Or the current ones decide they want something different . . . ;)

I might go check out holiday_wishes for the things that don't have to be mailed. As you know, I am horrible at mailing things. ;) It's coming, though . . .

That's so cool. We have one really old quilt at home...I think maybe my great-grandmother made it?

I'm awful about mailing things as well. Three of my friends will receive Christmas presents whenever I get back to the States this summer... I bought the gifts for last Christmas. Oops.
