So today I went out with my mum, as a birthday outing (even though it's a week late) and we went into Borders and sat in the cafe there for an hour and a half or so, while I wrote and she read. I got a couple of books, 'cos I had a voucher for ten bucks off a book and she got me one as a belated birthday present.

Holy sheeeooot. I'd be all ~squee~ too. But only because I like old things. Old books especially. When I was at my uni's main library, I found a book published in 1886 (or somewhere around there), and stood for a full five minutes flipping through it with wonder and a gaping jaw. XD The pages were incredibly old and yellowed, and the binding was broken considerably...

The kicker? It was written in German, and I couldn't understand a word of it. XD Still it was neat, I had no idea my uni kept books that old, but as I looked around I saw there were a ton of books as old as that one; a lot of them in sealed plastic with "do not open unless checking out" on them, meant to preserve the paper since they were so old and brittle...

I mean really. Goddamn. I knew my uni was old, but I didn't think it was THAT old. XD

I want to go to your library. I don't think our library has anything that old. D:

I luffluffluff old books. ^^ I literally gasped when I saw this one and then spent the next five minutes standing and ... well, flipping through it with wonder and a gaping jaw. XD Well, poring over it. And then huggling it. But then I had a stack of 13 books by then so I pretty much had to huggle it just to keep them all steady in my arms. XD
