For those who haven't been linked to it elsewhere, OkCupid's new statistics blog is freaking awesome. A couple of the math-heads who helped put together the matching system are doing data mining and analysis on various questions that OkCupid users have answered

I think that's a fine and striking example, and I am surprised you didn't include it in your post.

wow.. That is pretty interesting, both that they are looking at the data and the data that is generated. Thanks for posting this.

I guess the lesson learned is that "hello" is no longer an acceptable greeting.
I wonder what the data would show if people were polled about it, compared to how they actually responded.
