Wow, that line was wrenching. John does care about what Mary wanted. And Dean knows it. Even when John is being a good dad, my heart still gets squeezed.

Loved the story. The quiet simplicity of it. Just a barbecue in the garden. And this line - Mom would have cared. How much different would everything have been if Mary had lived... And yes, thinking of his mom will always make Dean sad :(

Also, Alec is totally young!Dean!! Brilliant icon!

Well, I feel like even when I write him as borderline abusive, there's still a good guy buried under all the anger and fear, so writing good daddy!John wasn't even that far of a stretch. I've done it before, I just generally tend to gravitate towards scenarios where he's at his lowest of low points because...*shrugs*

Aw, I know. I have all these little plot bunnies for awesome!Mary fic. It's not that she would have been the most awesome mom ever, it's really more about how different John would have been with her around...

Also? Alec!Dean is awesome. I'm not gonna use some fugly Brock Kelly icon. ^^
