I remember that Cross!bleftwicDecember 3 2006, 19:55:32 UTC
Thanks for a wonderful photo Lynne that brings back long ago Christmas joy. Dad would often take us throughout the Kanawha Valley to enjoy the displays, and it is still one of my most cherished memories. That cross always signaled the beginning of the season. As I recall, there was a star on the hill in Marmet.
It DID go WVU's way after all! What a thrilling game! Now we just have to wait for the Bowl officials; will it be another trip to the Gator Bowl, or the Sun? Who cares! It was still a super season!
My bile is agitated too, but because my gall bladder has failed. But they're going to remove it, so cest la vie.
Thanks so much for the pictures of home...they inspire me to wax poetic.

Was it not a sweet triple over-time kind of night?
Oh, Bill... I was squeezing the WVU bear in my left hand and holding the Fiesta Bowl coffee mug I bought my dad for Christmas when he was in ICU at CAMC for 2 months over the holidays in 1988-89.
When he finally woke up and we re-oriented him and gave him his Christmas presents, he said he was glad that he slept through that game.
I miss his humor.
I hear you. I miss him (and my mom) acutely too. Especially this time of the year.
YES! I remember the Marmet Star. I could see that one from the back yard. (insert wistful sigh)
Yikes.. 'bout your gall bladder. Oooo, I've heard that this a one terrible kind of pain. Bye bye gall bladder and Hola to feeling better!
I so enjoy you enjoying the home photos. Wax away friend. Your poetry about home inspires me. It affords me warmth and inevitably brings a smile to my face.
We got in late the night before Thanksgiving and there was something SO amazingly comforting about seeing that cross for the first time in years. It's lit at Christmas and Easter only, and it always felt something like a night-light and guardian angel to me when I was growing up.
