Finding the Time

I'm just talking my way through the work out thing, so this will be a boring entry:

My boss got us all memberships in the in-building gym (nice facilities), starting Oct 1.
I have gone exactly once, last Monday, and it's now Thursday the 22nd of October.

I do need to exercise.
I hate going to the gym.
The gym is the only place to get exercise right now ( Read more... )

"stretches out your liver" and is "bad for your digestion."

Never heard of the liver stretch, but digestion does direct more blood flow to the stomach and intestines, exercising directs blood away from those areas to the muscles, this is the idea of not swimming after you eat and it may cause a cramp in a muscle.

I doubt it is a critical matter and some exercise is probably better than the alternative. ANd if you it doesn't agree with you don't do it.

Excercising after dinner can definitly lead to cramps in the stomach and what-not because of the competition for blood flow to the muscles vs. the stomach. It wouldn't be the most optimal time, but I guess something is better than nothing (I do a whole lot of nothing these days, but I'm also on my feet a lot at work in the lab).
I have the same barriers about the company gym that you do. My one over manager goes all the time. He has a shaved head. It not much sweat of his back (or head), but the re-prep for work is too much for me, especially in terms of hair. Can you avoid washing your hair? Or go late enough (ie 9 PM) that you could wash your hair but not have to blow dry it (ie go home with wet hair?).

I decided to just come back to my desk with my wet hair. Whatever! People will have to deal with the wet hair. Screw it.

I worked out!! I had dinner at 6, came back to my desk, went to work out at 8, and got 'caught' by one of the overeager trainers who then put me through the entire work out - a 15 min warm up on bicycle, stretching, then a whole circuit with machines, then a 20 minute cardio wrap up. A whole hour!

I am pumped. I REALLY liked the machines, and I didn't feel in any way self conscious using them because I had to pay attention to what i was doing. I'm so going back tomorrow!
