She didn't even honestly notice that he was covered in blood, besides the initial squishy feel of his hand taking hers. But all of that was quickly forgotten as he pulled her in close, and she was pressed in up against him. It hurt, oh god did it hurt, but she didn't even allow herself to wince, terrified of ruining the moment. She was clinging to him as if he was going to try and leave her again, her bloodstained fingers creating new red marks on his clothes.

Her head leaned into his touch, and soon she was crying, so so happy that he was there and he was going to stay. "You'll stay." She mouthed the words, her mouth seeking out his for an almost frenzied kiss. She had to have him, had to have him close, and it didn't matter that he was getting blood all over her, or that their blood was mixing together. She had been so empty without him there, afraid he wasn't going to come back, and now that he was there, she could honestly say that nothing else came close to mattering ( ... )

He returned her kiss aggressively, with a kind of carnal lust. Oh yes, Claire was his, if anything all that had happened in the last days had only made this clearer. He'd been afraid of losing her before, he thought, maybe that was it. To the others, to the world outside. But not anymore. He knew how to protect her now, and he would see that it was done. And done well.

He pulled his lips out of the kiss, and looked down at her. "It's okay. Shh, I'm here now. And I'll always be here. I have a piece of you. We're connected indefinitely."

And with that, he let go of her-- slowly, carefully, and turned to pull the sheet off of their bed.

If she could stay there, just like that, she wouldn't ever complain again. She felt an overwelming sense of happiness, she was almost positive that her heart was going to go into overdrive and explode. Thankfully, she'd just be able to grow a new one. "Connected...yeah. You're here, and that's what matters." She dumbly responded, her fingers fumbling to grab hold of some part of him as he moved away ( ... )

Well, they weren't going to be clean anymore. The red mixed in with the white of them, but he was already learning not to be bothered by it.

"You can wear one of my shirts, if you wish. But if you don't try to... treat it, blood will just spread and you'll make a mess of yourself." Sylar explained calmly as he started ripping the sheet into thin strips, measuring out the lengths with his finger.

"I'm glad I can be used as a dist--" And then it happened again, the searing pain. He made a noise, a crying out that caught in his throat, and dropped his work to the ground. His hand reflexively clutched at his temple, to make sure everything was still there, the pain was just imagined, it wasn't really happening. His other hand gripped onto Claire, dug into her shoulder (not that she'd be able to feel how painfully hard he was gripping), and his grip did not slacken until the whole ordeal was over.

She watched as he tore the sheet into strips, and stepped over to she could help. But then he was making a pained noise, and grabbing on to her, and she came close to panic. "Sylar!" She could feel the pressure of his grip on her shoulder, could feel her brain telling her that she should step away to be free, but she didn't budge. Instead, her hand went up to gasp on to his, to hopefully reassure him with some kind of gentle touch ( ... )
