The confrontation had come and gone, he'd tried his best to patch up the wreckage, despite himself, and now all that was left was to clean up the mess. And that was what Beyond was for. He understood Sylar, sometimes better than Sylar felt he understood himself. He needed him. To help fix it. To piece the mess he'd made together. B could see the pieces. B would know.

"You do understand." Sylar breathed, letting himself be dragged by B. It was all so stressful, all these emotions. He could feel himself disconnecting. Trying to.

"Thank you. For being here."

That again, 'thank you', like Claire in the forest looking both irritated and sincere. He opened the door with a smile, pushing Sylar in as he spoke. "We're beyond that friend, I need you here and you need me. Co-" he almost broke off into laughter. "Habitation."

The house was almost clean, in some way. Reiko was quiet, A was quiet, they came and went under B's gaze, protected and kept like the precious things they were. He pulled Sylar further along, into his own room, a dull place with no bed, sleep? Such a thing, so useless, it only brought peels of that horrible laughter. B never had nightmares though he hoped to visit them in other's.

Papers littered the floor, calculations and thoughts and full epics of Homer or Vergil, whatever could fit, from memory of course. He pulled Sylar farther, near the wall, crouching down and expecting the other to do the same.

"Sylar." He whispered, hand cupping his mouth. "I want to tell you a story." he said with wide eyes and a small smile.

Sylar crouched down with B, then shifted to sit, back against the wall, legs sprawled out in front of him. B's house wasn't that bad. It was not nearly as spotless and tended to as Sylar kept his own place, but it wasn't the disgusting bloodstained mess he was sure other people expected out of him. Others who didn't understand. He liked it. Homes said things about people that words did not.

He slid his back down the wall slightly, using his hands on either side to keep him propped up. He was so tired. His eyes closed.

"Tell me a story, Beyond."

B smiled, he loved to have all his things with him, under the roof. One day L would be there too and everything would be perfect.

"In Russia there was a Prince, named Lyov Nikolayevich Myshkin. He suffered, poor thing, from seizures, and was sent away to be cured. He came back, much better, illness still in his head. He meets a man named Rogozhin, a man madly in love with a girl, Nastasya Filippovna, a girl of terrible reputation, wild thing. Always gets into trouble." his lip curled as he spoke.

"Myshkin, he hears so much about Nastasya, he wishes to meet her more and more. You see Myshkin is special, he's not tainted, just a poor thing doing things purely as they should He does meet Nastasya, at a party just as his friend Rogozhin proposes to her. He feels her hesitation, her embarrassment, Myshkin does, and he proposes as well, to save her from so horrible a situation. She feels he is pitying her, angered, shamed, she runs away with Rogozhin."

Sylar listened, keeping his eyes closed. It was so nice, to not have to do anything, save anyone, argue again, to just exist and listen to B's story. He was sure it was from some piece of Russian literature, but not one that he himself had read.

As B paused, he asked questions, to show that he was listening and being attentive. "Why? I mean, why did Myshkin do that. She didn't know him, she had no reason to say yes. He probably pushed her into the situation with Rogozhin, just by terrifying her with a less familiar option."
