She wasn't sure when she had gone to sleep the night before. The Halloween party had been so much fun, spending the time with all those people important to her and realizing that they could live here instead of continuing that seemingly hopeless fight back at home. It was purgatory, and bad things happened, but was it really worse than their home? She doubted it. She had started to believe, after seeing everyone gathered and dressed up, more or less happy (Setsuna and Tieria hadn't looked too thrilled, but she knew they enjoyed it as well, somehow), that this was starting to be the 'family' she had always wished they would become.

The Trinity had left first. Johann, then Michael. There had been problems between them and the rest of Celestial Being due to what they had done--she couldn't say she was particularly happy with any of them, but they had still, somehow, become part of the household for however little time she had been there with them. Now Neena was gone as well, and, worst of all...

SetsunaShe still saw it before her eyes ( ... )

"Considering that I'm the one providing today, I might protest if you tried to hold me back," he said with a small (albeit forced) smile of his own. The Meister made his way into the room, trying to keep his mind clear for now as best he could. He placed the bottle and glasses on the nightstand before taking a seat on her bed, now taking the moment to pour them each a glass.

"It's very strong, so don't down it all at once," he warned, handing her one of them.

He felt a bit of deja-vu, remembering that time so many months ago when he had come to her for a drink after destroying the Super Soldier Organization's main facility. Something was different now. He felt as if he was in a slight more position of power than then, but at the same time, just as weak and desperate.

"You keep saying that, but you'll probably be the first to finish your drink," she said with forced cheerfulness, failing miserably at the attempt of creating a better atmosphere. She wasn't feeling good, and neither was Allelujah. It was the same kind of hopelessness she had hoped to discard here in Purgatorium. It was funny. Hadn't they just talked yesterday, about all this? About how this place gave them the possibilities that they never had at home, hell or not, purgatory or not, there were things they could do that would never happen at home.

She took the glass from the Meister's hands when he held it out, trying to steel herself and pretend, just a little longer. She was good at pretending. Running away, hiding, pretending that she was strong when she really wasn't. She'd just have to manage a little longer.

"You'll see. After the first glass, things will be a lot brighter."

Another quirk of a smile, and he took a quick sip, almost cringing at the strength of the liquor. "Yeah. This isn't the first time that this place has driven me to a bottle."

He swirled around the liquid a bit, unsure of what to say, or how to even start the conversation. All he knew was that Setsuna's departure had hit him on more than one level. It wasn't just losing Setsuna (though that was bad enough), it was the re-emergence of the fear of being sent home, of Lockon, the others leaving. Leaving him alone in the end regardless.

Right now, he couldn't handle thinking that.
