Who: Mello and L When: after this thread Where: Mello's house Rating: PG Warnings: none? yet Summary: Kira isn't the only one giving people heart attacks.
Without even knocking on the door, Mello strolled inside, shutting the door behind him. Looking from L to the room, he slipped his eyes sideways for a moment, a little annoyed from the earlier conversation. That was, until he got close enough to see the faint marking of a black eye.
Growling under his breath, clenching his teeth together, he tried to stay calm. But that was never his strong suit.
"Did Beyond do that?" He asked through grit teeth, almost a low growl more than words.
"No." L answered truthfully, turning to glance at the blond, expressionless. "This was simply from a scuffle several days prior."
He turned fully, gaze heavy on Mello. "Beyond can hurt me all he wishes, in the end he will never get what he wants." he said, though to himself he could tell there was something weaker about that statement then before. Something was off. If felt as though once again control was slipping from his fingertips.
"How does someone so smart, make so many horribly fucking choices!" Mello shouted suddenly, fists balled up, tossing his arm to the side. "Honestly! L! What the HELL! A scuffle? What does that even MEAN!?"
Growling, he stormed across the room, standing right in front of him. "He's getting exactly what he wants when he hurts you, you know? Our attention, because you're our everything! Without you, we have this huge gap, this entire part of us gone." Grabbing his hand to his own shirt, he frowned, "I've felt that before, and I refuse to let it happen again!"
Suddenly he kicked a chair near by, knocking it over and across the room. It hit the wall so hard it broke, snarling. "I REFUSE!"
L looked mildly surprised a moment before his face set into something more unreadable, watching Mello's anger unfurl itself and he spoke, ranted. The chair hitting the wall, the loud crack made him tense but he otherwise remained unmoved.
"A scuffle - a fight." L answered after the pause. He almost unconsciously put his hand on Mello's head.
"I am not going anywhere. I may die but I will return." He said, pulling back and heading to the window. "Beyond is like a bad stain. He will not disappear, he will not be defeated here."
L sounded almost tired, staring out where some monster roamed, ripping apart another. "If I do not go to him he goes to you. If I go to him you go as well." L looked to the sky - the plate instead. He looked lost in thought, in a different place completely, head tilting back.
"It's like him, I simply cannot let go him either. How shocking." He muttered to himself, bringing his thumb to his teeth.
