Not enough to explain why his very veins had felt as if they had been on fire for the past few hours. Kadaj had managed to guess what it may have been. Why he had found himself pacing in places he hardly frequented before, leaving monsters halfway on the brink of death rather than finishing them off like he normally did. For one thing he was bored. For another, he was anxious. He knew Mother had something in mind, and the fact that he knew was enough to make him almost twitch with hyper excitement. "Just a lowly shopkeeper, sir," he replied softly. "I'm sorry to have disturbed you."

Stepping around a patch of twiggy brush, he saw Makubex floored, long legs spread out before him. Just a boy ... slim, and perhaps even a bit smaller than he anticipated with a certain kind of fragile beauty to him. Were her heart made of something warmer, it might be safe to say that Jenova had taken a frail liking to him, something purely superficial, at best. His eyes wouldn't recognize her, but she was curious to know what he was feeling ... what his blood was doing as she closed the distance between them ( ... )
