Part of him wished he hadn't come out, and another part of him knew that he was going to see her whether it was sooner or later. On the other hand, if it meant that they weren't together anymore, it was probably better to get it over and done with since there wasn't any point in dragging along something that just didn't work.

But he was feeling a mixture of so many different emotions, and surprisingly one of the most prominent ones was relief.

He could hear it in his mind--she'd been through a lot without him. In the end, he just wasn't there for her. Yet he expected to be able to return to her so easily? Who was he kidding? When the water all boiled down, he was there for sloth; he always acted way too slow or way too late. And the thief was there for greed; she would always want, need, and crave more. Kakashi knew that whatever he gave would never be enough, and sooner or later she'd leave him behind ( ... )

Once again, reality was shoved into her consciousness like a slap in the face.

Greed? No. Just like when Jenova had first entered her body, she was forced to realize the truth. Her sin was that she had believed. Believed she could be different. Special. She had believed she could change what she was - damaged, unnecessary. A thing cast-off by so many people, even by those she hated. She had believed she could be alive, adored, needed. Indispensable. But it wasn’t true. A tragedy was the entirety of her story.

She had been deluded. Betrayed by her own childish hopes and dreams. Things couldn’t be different for her, because she wasn't so unique after all. To Kakashi she had been, maybe still was. But not to anyone else that she knew of. Not even to Gippal - they were close, yes. But there was still something between them that she didn't think would ever go away, something that just kept them from each other. So life would take her, she realized, lead her, and she would be alone. She would fade before her own eyes, ( ... )
