Who: Deidara and Tobi When: Now Where: One of those crazy useful bath houses Rating: Uh...PG? Warnings: It's Tobi. And Deidara. Summary: They both need a baaath. Stinky shinobi? Or just manly musk? YOU DECIDE!
Deidara, unlike most sensible people, could go extended periods of time without properly bathing, but with the approach of the upcoming ball, he'd taken to washing a little more regularly. It was, sad to say, slowly becoming habit for him, now. Although, if you asked him, he wouldn't tell you it made much of a difference to him, even though it did. He was gradually coming to appreciate the smaller luxuries the gods afforded the lower denizens of Purgatorium.
Today he was exercizing his right to one of those luxuries: the bath. He was admitted easily enough into the men's side (without any gender confusion at all, and that pleased him) and immediately took to undressing and heading to the showers.
It was mostly quiet around this time... he didn't expect to see anybody there and didn't bother with a towel. So when he walked in on another man facing away from him all he could think to do was stare for a moment and blink.
Tobi was alone for the first few moments, carefully scrubbing his hair with that mask still on, his head tilted back to keep the suds from his eyes. At least alone he didn't have to worry about the scars and marks on his body possibly upsetting someone else. Scars of battle...scars of...well, being a shinobi.
But when he heard the footsteps he stiffened in uncertainty and turned slowly to face the doors. Who would be coming in? Someone probably ready to run away the moment they saw him? Aw, that would be no fun...but...
Appropriately caught of guard, Deidara still managed to recover quickly. This was his partner, after all, not some froth-jawed psycho gorilla. Or rather, Tobi had been his partner, but there wasn't really an Akatsuki to partner for now, so Tobi was more of a subordinate. Either way, as far as Deidara was concerned, Tobi wasn't a reason to stand about gawking with his mouth hanging open - even if he was disfigured with scars and constantly wore that pumpkin-orange mask.
Just the same, none of that meant Deidara was happy to see Tobi, either. They'd had some differences lately, most of which Deidara didn't even know how to begin explaining, none of which he understood himself.
So when the other called him senpai, Deidara's initial response was to simply grunt and find a free showerhead to stand under and wash himself off while he stared at the wall... naked as the day he was born and just as disfigured as Tobi in his own way.
"..." after that single grunt as Deidara's manner of greeting, Tobi turned around and returned to washing himself carefully. Water was poured over his head to rinse out his hair and after a moment he stood, the towel falling away as he tended to rinsing the rest of his body off of collected suds. Tobi...did not mind this bathhouse at all, and rather hoped that when spring came they remained.
Who knew how many people pissed in the river!
At least here it was a clean system and therefor they could be clean. So he tended his washing in silence, not wanting another beating from Deidara while naked. Not fun. Soon enough he would finish and head into the other room, where he could relax in the water. Until then he wouldn't...bug his grumpy senpai.
Overall Deidara wasn't really grumpy. He'd had a decent morning, but encountering Tobi had been unexpected, entirely unplanned and... a little unwelcome. Mostly because he was unprepared. Still, like anything else he faced in life, he'd deal with it... from a distance.
So he showered in silence, the rare sneaking glance to Tobi now and then assuring the other wasn't attempting to tackle him over at random... as Tobi was prone to doing in the midst of his hyperactive mood-swings. He discovered how safe he was when the other left the room without so much as another word to him, however... which was peculiar. More often than not Tobi sought to aggrivate him to no end... and now he was being submissive? Or was he just settling for outright ignoring him?!
Deidara's lips worked into a partial scowl, and once he'd showered off the soap suds from his body and lengthy locks... he followed Tobi into the pool part of the bath house, snagging a towel on his way in and tossing it around his shoulders.
