This relationship is a sham in the first place. It wasn't like 'dating' her had stopped him from having fun with Lottie, or from... anything, really. Back home, he'd continued to keep his various lives separate and not felt anything like this. Yet, somehow the fact that everyone knew about him and Ada made it feel as if he'd actually... been supposed to treat the relationship differently?
No, that was silly. But it was the only explanation he could think of. It wasn't like he really cared about the girl or anything.
And it hadn't even really been his fault! Whatever strange force had caused him to develop a sudden obsession with her brother, it certainly wasn't really his doing. He didn't have anything to feel guilty about!
So why exactly was he standing outside her door with a small bunch of Eglantine roses, ready to beg for her forgiveness?
He has no idea, but he knocks on the door anyway, and calls out softly.]
[For a moment she wonders if she should. Perhaps it would be better if she didn't answer him, and waited until she wasn't feeling quite like this. Irrational feelings were still feelings all the same. Part of her thought it would be better if she didn't subject him to that.
The other part thought he more than deserved it. It wasn't that he didn't deserve to take responsibility for his actions, because he did. Only... she might have been more reasonable if he'd waited.
But he came here for her. At least he deserved to be heard out. Ada rolled on her back, took a deep breath, climbed out of bed and answered the door. If she bit her lip any harder, it might bleed.]
You may come in.
[And as soon as she opened the door for him, she started retreating back into her room. This was hard. It was hard to look at him... to see those flowers... and still be mad.
He knows it the second that she opens the door. If she had simply sent him away, then she might have had a chance. But this way... no, there's no way this foolish girl will defeat him, not in this sort of game. He's been playing it far too long.]
... I know it's not much, but...
[He held the flowers out toward her, insistently. Letting her keep physical distance simply made her harder to manipulate, and that wouldn't do at all.]

...They're lovely.
[However, the same can't be said for her tone, which sounds somewhat sad and flat. But she takes them and finds a vase for them.
It was an apology of sorts after all, and as such, she would care for it properly.]
