Spring has Sprung

I feel like I'm waking from a long, cold dream.  Finally, finally (!) there's sunshine and warm breezes and the ground is free from ice and snow!  The daffodils are blooming and it looks like most of our transplanted lilacs will leaf this year, if not flower. Violence has made me happy during this story, I think it's one of the main differences between the high school version and this one. When you write something that makes you uncomfortable, it means it causes a reaction in the reader and isn't that what a story is supposed to do?

Writing is definitely making me happy, but I was a little concerned at the ease with which some really graphically violent scenes seem to come. It's like-- wait, I'm not a sadist, so how am I able to portray this so easily?

I think it has more to do with the fact that we are older and understand the world better. It's easier to look at things from a more realistic point of view when you've been in the world for awhile yourself. Before we were 15 and blissfully unaware of how much we had yet to learn.

Geez, I guess so. Some of the naivete that goes along with being a teenager is nice, though. I wish I didn't understand quite so well how awful the world and people can be!
