I'm pretty anal about getting things done as well, although my standards of cleanliness have dropped considerably since having a baby ;-) I also *must* do the dishes every night, but fortunately we have a dishwasher, so it's not that big a deal.
I also found one of the keys to your energy in your answer to lyric's question - you're a spring chicken :-) I wish I'd met Colin earlier so I could've had kids in my twenties - starting a family in your mid-thirties is hard as you're used to a lot of sleep...
I think it's great that you've taken Mondays off. I've taken almost the first year off with A, and while, overall, it has been good, I also think it's going to make returning to work pretty hard on us both.
I agree with your ideas. I wish that our culture had more flexible opportunities for mothers so that they didn't have to be either full-time workers or full-time stay at home moms.
I would hope that someday soon, we wake up to realize that it's important for our children to have mothers and fathers around for their formative years, just as it's important for mothers and fathers to have identities outside being parents (ie having outside employment or hobbies)
