1. I like the color of the basement.
2. You fooled me on the basement floor, when I saw the picture, I said to myself, "I don't remember them having a tile floor", so kudos.
3. The bushes by your porch might be Rose of Sharon. Nick's mom has them by her back deck and they were enormous when we left Michigan.
4. I REALLY like your piano. It's lovely.

1) We are going to paint the walls a green that is one shade darker than the living room upstairs to carry the color palette. I think it will look nice... and outdoors-y.
2) Awesome! I'm glad it looks good.
3) I will have to look that up! I've always wondered what they are!
4) Thank you. We really enjoy it. And by we, I mean Jake.

i love the wall color in your living room.

olie contorts himself into crazy positions all the time. we have names for them, like "scratch my ass position" and "somebody shot my dawg position". sometimes he contorts himself into a little ball... on his back. he's a freaking nut.

the bushes are rose of sharon. we had them at our old house, and they get to be ginormous. the flowers kind of look like a hibiscus blossom.

i am still totally jealous of your piano. covet covet covet.

Thanks! The green is a sage color and we used it for our office too (mostly because we bought too much paint).

I think dogs are crazy and think they are gymnasts or circus performers sometimes. Seriously, why else would they want to get into such weird-ass positions?

Is there anything we can do about the bushes besides trim them every year? I like to look out my kitchen window and see something other than leaves.

Piano is awesome! We love it lots. :-)

my dog thinks he's a PERSON. he sits like a person (on his butt with his back legs hanging out - he does this on the stairs and on the arms of the furniture.. it's hysterical) he cries like a person. he gets revenge like a person. he eats corn on the cob like a person. he's insane. :)

the only thing that i could think to do would be to transplant it to somewhere that you can just let it grow. ours was on the side of the house, and my mom wanted it to be big, so she just left it go. otherwise, your only other option is to just keep trimming it back every year.

I think I remember the oak cabinet being at your house in Copenhagen!! Oh, the memories. When I was going through some pictures a couple of weeks ago, I found a bunch of pictures from your going away pool party we had back in the day. There were lots of shots with a certain black owl that was in your parents' yard and Tim Morris pretending to be Pamela Anderson. It was pretty funny :)

Hahahah... I have some of those pictures too! One with Ricky Smith chewing chips or cake or something and then with his mouth open to the camera... gross.

Ahhh, the good old days.

Have you set a final date for your wedding? My mom was asking, all I could tell her was 'Fall 2009'

LOL, oh Ricky....

Yes, we did end up booking the reception and all that after we figured out what would be going on with deployments (which, of course, is still in the air.... oh military...) At this point, they are working around OUR date, lol.

It's 9/19/2009. I'm glad you asked, as I just remembered I may want to send out some preliminary save-the-dates, considering I have alot of out-of-state peoples in the bridal party and on the guest list. :) Look for it in your email, we're getting all tech-savvy for the invitations and all. I'm even going to have people let me know what they want for their meal via the website :)

We decided to wait that long mostly because then I'll be done with my pre-doc internship and hopefully with all of the dissertation BS. We're already looking into places to move into in June when I move out of Ithaca, and even looking at preliminary house floor plans, even though we'll probably wait a couple more years after the wedding. Never hurts to have a plan, especially to ballpark the down payment.

Lovely! And boy can I relate to a love-affair with tomatoes. I'm glad I'm not alone! It's nice to see you posting pictures again.

Also, that Mexican blanket is beautiful. I love it.

Thanks! We bought the blanket on our honeymoon in the Mexican Riviera. It was the most expensive thing we bought on that trip, but it's so pretty and worth it!
