I had one of those boots on my foot when I had my ankle surgery. And that is a GNARLY skin/bone graft.

From behind, doesn't it look as though he has a softball sticking out of his leg?

The graft is actually a lot smaller than it was the last time I saw it. Of course, that time it was all wrapped and gauzed and everything. They expect the muscle to shrink to a smaller size over time, and eventually they can use compression bandages to help smush it down.

It looks pretty gross though, I'll admit! :-D
