So much love for this!! Everything about this section is so perfect, from the kids at the start quizzing Sam, to how Sam immediately tries to go towards the fire when he thinks someone's in danger, to the conversation about Jenna, and that last line -- made of awesome. And I especially love how Sam's actually fitting in -- which is both yay and also buh? Because yay for making friends and for being someone they listen to, but also geez, dude, they're high school students! So um.

LOL, Sam can't win. *g* But yeah, I think it's interesting how the other kids are starting to accept him, particularly because only Sharpay knows that he's kind of got a thing going on with Ryan. So it's not just that Sam's being pulled in along the fringes due to his relationship with a member of their group, you know? Rather, they're starting to accept him purely for himself. (Not that they don't still really wonder about him.) I think his social credibility only started to recover once he stopped tackling kids and asking them whether the school was haunted... ;-)

Oooh, I loved Sam interacting with everyone, and how Ryan offered to tutor him. AWW! But it's started! Now I'm very, very scared. Still, I really loved how Ryan kept focusing on Sam, it was so subtle and so sweet. Lovely chapter, can't wait for more!

Oh good! Yeah, those two have been up and down so erratically in such a short span of time-- a bond is developing between them which is deeper than either of them has realized yet.

i loved the gang trying to figure Sam out with the absurd common knowledge questions. Why not just ask what you want to know? Oh, yeah, they're kids!

Ryan hanging back in the classroom almost got him caught up in Sam's hero mode. If Ryan insists on hanging around, that's going to be hard to disguise.

The kids hashing over Jenna's injury like a juicy piece of gossip was pitch perfect, though Ryan and Troy's real concern makes them stand out from the crowd. I loved Sam trying to be reassuring.

Seems like the 12 year cycle is starting to heat up.
