Nice to see you creative too. Nice set, wouldn't know how to work with most of these. Would love to see a few icons done by you with these .... pwetty pwease?!

Mhh well, it's just a lot of playing around for me, too, without really knowing what to do myself :)
I usually just set them to the different blending modes though and see what happens - like, darker textures are set to screen or lighten mostly; colorful ones to screen, soft light, overlay, hard light or anything really; b&w ones to screen or soft light - and then play with the opacity, and using layer masks to hide parts of it where it's covering the subject, faces or eyes, too much. I mostly use them for subtly enhancing and giving some structure to the background, I think, or for adding some shadows/lightning to the icon. With blocky textures or patterned ones I have no idea yet, I fear I'm not creative enough for those most of the time ^^
Anyway, I'm sure I'll be using some of them soon, maybe I can try to give some examples then - remind me again in case I forget :)

Ah, yeah, there's that...! :) I can't really do much at the moment as I don't have access to any of my old files right now, let alone Photoshop *boohoo*, but I'll write something up as soon as I get my pc working again. Though I fear it may take a while, I need to get a friend to take a look at it (and hopefully fix it), and it's not gonna happen now before the holidays anymore, but I hope it will be back up and running again soon. Sorry for the wait, not even sure it's gonna help much anyway ^^

yay icon textures! I know icon-making is going out of style in favor of tumblr art, but I am still participating in several icon challenges and I can use icon textures like woah.

I don't get all the tumblr hype, I still prefer icons over it any day!
