If there was one thing Jason had to admit, it was that Scott had damn good decorating sense. The house built above the labs and other rooms was a reflection of the boss's upbringing and tastes, some of the rooms could have graced the covers of magazines

As Scott would say after discovering it time and time again, timing is everything.
"Are you? What's happened then, pup?" he asked as he wandered into the room, and reached to ruffle Jason's hair as he took a seat. "I assume you meant that metaphorically, since you still have on your trousers."

Jason tenses when he hears Scott's voice, and the ruffling doesn't help much to relax him.

"Yes, metaphorically."

He takes a bit to start talking, trying to stop panicking. "Ibroketheepiflourescent." He didn't mean for it to come out that fast, but he was still a bit freaked.

Scott is silent for a while- then hauls Jason over to him. "And how did we break the epi-fluorescent microscope, then, pup?" he asks, caressing fingertips over Jason's form idly.
He doesn't sound emotionally involved with the question at all, which is probably far more of a warning sign than a lot of things might be.

Jason has bypassed panic and gone straight into scared, but he doesn't pull away, because that would be extremely stupid.

"I was moving it closer to the edge of the table so I could actually, you know, reach it, and it started to slip and I tightened my grip too much and ...it's a bit destroyed."
