Во вчерашнем эмоциональном выступлении конгрессмен Каммингс обратился к своим республиканским коллегам:
I am talking directly to my Republican colleagues. We need you to stand up to President Trump. We need you to join us in telling him that we reject this mean policy. We need you to tell him to abandon this policy. We need you to remind him

ThinkProgress looked at 26 of the most vulnerable Republican candidates running for re-election in November. Eleven were critical of the policy, but did not extend the criticism to the president or his administration. Only four more blamed Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Department of Homeland Security, or the Trump administration. Two of the 26 have not commented at all. None of them have criticized President Trump directly.

Republicans in Congress have had almost two years to prove they could govern responsibly. They failed. As we approach the 2018 midterms, it's critical that we elect people who will lead in ways that this Congress won’t - both by seeking to legislate in a bipartisan way, and by upholding the checks and balances that the Founding Fathers set up to safeguard ethics, prevent the abuse of power, and preserve the rule of law.
And so this fall, I'm going to support Democrats in their efforts to win control of the House.

An overlooked clue to the likely coming Cohen flip: his new lawyer is a former SDNY prosecutor who worked with Comey & for Preet. And every single one of his partners in his firm is an SDNY USAO veteran who either worked for &/or with Comey or Preet. They were hired to do a deal. https://t.co/CpQeM86m5S

Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen has signaled to friends that he is "willing to give" investigators information on the President if that's what they are looking for, and is planning on hiring a new lawyer to handle a possible indictment from federal prosecutors ( ... )

7/ for two years, they've been afraid to even whisper the slightest criticism. This week, it wasn't just the chickens and the opportunist. It was people who Trump counts on. Even Republicans running for office in primaries came out opposing it.

The congressional Republican caucuses must be substantially reduced. So substantially that their remnants, reduced to minorities, will be stripped of the Constitution’s Article I powers that they have been too invertebrate to use against the current wielder of Article II powers. They will then have leisure time to wonder why they worked so hard to achieve membership in a legislature whose unexercised muscles have atrophied because of people like them.
