If "books are too hard" for the little bastards, I say screw the worthless little fuckers. I understand teachers are supposed to be compassionate and all, but fuck these useless pieces of shit and fuck their no-ambition-having, "I don't care" attitudes.
Make the tests harder. Forget Bradbury. Give them Joyce or Hemingway or Faulkner and see how they like it. Fail them all if they can't pass the damn tests. Fail them for being useless and moronic and lazy, and be sure to make them aware of these facts every day. It seems mean, but I need someone to take my order next time I'm at the drive through. These useless brats will do nicely.

Fahrenheit 451 was an awesome book! And I very much agree with you about our society...it really makes you wonder. I hope a bunch of Paris Hilton's and Britney Spears' is not all we have to look forward to.

You are scared, I am also scared. It is scary. If I weren't going to have my head buried in a book with my mind thinking at a higher level for the next week and a 1/2, I'd feel bad about not reading as much as I should and go to the library tomorrow. Sad for these kids though- really. At what point will our society become completely illiterate and begin to necessitate a pictures-only communication system?
