Mar 02, 2010 22:00

[Molly might've thought the past week sucked, but... It really wasn't all that bad. Daisuke was quite a charming guy, after all. And fun. It totally goes against her morals, but it was really... fun. So, she snuck on over to his house, looked around to make sure no one was watching her, then slipped this under his door. Then she'll run off, a ( Read more... )

[He doesn't really need it, but...]

There is a certain hat I have something of a fondness for.

You got it.

[And whenever she arrives, she'll find Sokka has cleared off some of the counter space in the smithy. It's not because of her arrival though, it's because he's cutting up the eel jerky he had been drying since yesterday. He'll be using his machete rather than a regular knife to cut them. That's perfectly normal, right?]

[Once Molly arrives, she hears the sound of a knife cutting into some meat. Dude, is this a smithy, or a butcher shop? She looks over and sees what he's doing, though... and raises an eyebrow.]

Why don'tcha use a kitchen knife for that?

[When he spots her, he turns to greet her, wiping the knife clean on his apron. He shrugs at her question.] The smithy is surprisingly lacking in kitchenware. Eel jerky? [He holds up a piece of the dried eel and a bowl of vinegar with a hopeful expression.]

[Ew. Ew. Hopeful expression or not, Molly holds a hand over her nose and mouth.]

No thanks.

[But it's goooooood!

Hopeful Sokka has a deflated expression, shrugs, and eats the piece he had in mind. After miraculously not poisoning himself, he sets his knife away and heads to the couch where his journal is.] You brought your book, right?

Uh-huh. Right here!

[She digs into the bag she prepared to put the fabric in to hand over the book. She's decided to stick other things on there, though, like sticker flowers and smiley faces.]

[Sokka glares at the decorated journal for the moment. Girls. He flops down on the couch though and pulls out his own journal. From the side of the couch though, he retrieves some blank sheets of paper and hands her one.]

I take it you at least know how to do basic filters, so I guess I can skip the whole part about boxing in your message. So I'll show you a simple formula for setting up a relatively strong filter.

[Oh, she could use some of that paper. She eyes it, tempted to take some, but then pays attention to him. Maybe she can just get some later. Instead, she flops down beside him.]

Okaaay... Simple sounds good.

[And Sokka will write out a fairly detailed filter on the paper, complete with little notes on the outside explaining what some of the parts do. Strength wise, it's only a 50% filter, but it's somewhere to start at least.]

Once you get the hang of it, then it almost is sort of like a puzzle. When you get really good, you can figure out how to get into other people's filters.

[Molly leans over to get a good look, then writes a bit, then looks again, as if she's blatantly copying someone's paper. Thankfully, he's good at explaining what everything means. After some time, she tries it on her own without looking at Sokka's. It's not the best filter, but definitely stronger than her original fail one.]

Like that?

[He looks it over and nods approvingly.]

That's pretty good. Now try doing it in the journal. One filter for just me, one against me.

Okay.

[Hopefully everyone won't see. So, she pulls her knees up as she writes.]

[Filtered from Sokka | 40% Unhackable]

[Sokka checks the journal. He spends a little extra time to hack the one against her just in case she pulls a fast one on him.]

Not bad! Keep practicing and you'll have your own unbreakable filter in no time.

[She doesn't know him well enough to make a cheeky statement about him. But she grins and closes her journal.]

Soon enough, I'll be a great filter master like you! I may even surpass the master!
