taecyeon sighed and leaned back to his seat, “this is confusing. i don’t even know what ‘the son of the sun’ means.”
“hmm…” wooyoung slurped his noodle and said, “maybe, it means something shiny like the sun?”
nichkhun opened his laptop and clicked something, “look this.”
taecyeon approached the said man and peeked through nichkhun’s shoulder, “what are those?”
“these are reports from this king panda’s cases and files from newspapers.”
taecyeon scrolled down the files and snorted, “what is this? ‘sunny, the actress, said that she takes care her dog like her own son.’ and this ‘the fisherman from seoul was gaining attention since he caught a two meters fish in jeju.’ i’m sure these don’t have any problem with police department.”
nichkhun scrolled down and opened two files, “no if you don’t read these.”
taecyeon read the articles and smiled, “so, that sunny girl is ex-girlfriend of drugs dealer and the fisherman is actually a killer? great…”
nichkhun closed his laptop and smiled, “we always keep everything related with cases, just in case, you know.”
from what taecyeon had read, all king panda’s cases had signs in the letter. taecyeon sure he had to do something with the sign.
“it’s seven now…” wooyoung sighed, “we only have three hours remaining…”
damn!, taecyeon thought, there must be something! come on, ok taecyeon, you have to remember what police academy taught you!
taecyeon palmed his face and tried to think. he remembered sometimes case never related to any of sign. but, the sign could be the way to find the case.
“damn it…” taecyeon cursed.
he kept remembering the files nichkhun showed him but no one of them matched with ‘the son of the sun’ sentence.
then something hit him.
“nichkhun…” he called his colleague, “show me the files again!”
“eh?” nichkhun cocked his head, “what files?”
“opened the files again!” taecyeon grabbed the laptop and scrolled down, “where is it?!”
“what file?” wooyoung asked.
“the file with the actress, what her name, i forget!”
“that!” nichkhun pointed, “this ‘sunny, the actress, said that she takes care her dog like her own son.’ file right?”
“wait…” wooyoung interrupted, “you don’t think that the thing king panda will steal is the dog, right??”
“that exactly what i’m thinking.” taecyeon smirked, “come on! let’s go to the actress’ house. don’t bring the team, let me catch this thief alone. he will notice our presence if we’re too noisy.”

“it’s ten to ten!” taecyeon whispered, “i’ll go inside, you wait here, okay?”
both nichkhun and wooyoung nodded.
taecyeon knocked the door and a girl opened the door. taecyeon knew her as sunny, the actress.
“yes?” the girl said, “can i help you?”
taecyeon showed her his badge, “i’m a cop. can we talk for a moment?”
“well…” sunny said, “i don’t think i have another option. come in.”
“okay, listen.” taecyeon sighed, “i don’t have much time to explain this, but someone will steal your dog.”
“my dog?” sunny chuckled, “why?”
“i don’t know. where is it now?” taecyeon said. he glanced at the clock, shit, it’s three more minutes…
“err…i usually put him on the room upstairs…eh, wait!” sunny hadn’t had chance to finish his words when taecyeon ran quickly toward the stairs.
he found a room and kicked it with a gun on his hand, “police!”
he saw someone wearing black clothes from head to toe, holding the dog in his arm. the thief didn’t even bother to cover his face. and taecyeon was taken a back for a bit when he saw the thief’s face.
the thief had flawless face, plump lips, in short, he’s handsome. and those lips curled up into a smirk.
“finally…” he said with melodic voice, “finally, someone from police the department found me.”
“what?” taecyeon asked, “what do you mean?”
the thief chuckled, “i’m waiting for this so long. they never cracked my riddles. you’re the one. or maybe i made it too easy?”
taecyeon shook his head, “i don’t have to answer that. now, put that dog down slowly.”
the thief did what taecyeon said easily.
“don’t you want to know that dog was being my target?”
taecyeon gulped and stayed silent.
“i know you want to know.” the thief smirked wider, “look at its collar.”
taecyeon took a fast glance and hurriedly eyed the thief again.
“that collar is made by pure gold and diamonds. and it has high prize.”
“you can give your testimony later. now put your hands on the back of your head and turn around!” taecyeon commanded.
the thief easily turned around with his hands on his head, “i’m cooperating. i’m sure i’ll have a remission, hmm?”
“you’ll know later.” taecyeon answered shortly and handcuffed the thief, “come on. let’s take you out from here.”
“sure, officer.”
taecyeon frowned a bit, this thief is too easy to handle…

“cheers for ok taecyeon!” wooyoung raised his glass high, followed by the others.
“damn!” nichkhun said after finished his beer in one shot, “we really had a hard time with that thief, and this is your case, you handled him so well! can you give us your secret?”
“no secret, guys. really.” taecyeon answered.
he still felt troubled. he thought, that was too easy to catch the thief. he opened his laptop and checked the thief’s bio once again.
taecyeon tapped his chin lightly, “it feels so wrong…he gave up so easily.”
“oh, come on, hero!” nichhkun patted him on the back, “let’s celebrate your night!”
“but…”
“taecyeon, i’m sure he will be locked in maximum security prison in a long time. let’s wait until tomorrow judgment, okay?” wooyoung said.
taecyeon closed his laptop and smiled, “yeah, maybe you’re right.”

the court sentenced junsu at noon. taecyeon received news that the thief was sentenced to be locked up for 13-22 years. well, it was a right thing.
“see, he’s now locked up.” nichkhun smiled, “congratulation, you’ve caught a big fish!”
“my work’s not done yet, you know?” taecyeon smiled, “i still have to look for others. the thief said, he usually bought his equipments from a dealer. but, he, himself, doesn’t know who it is. he bought via online and transferred the money via atm. they never met.”
“and what kind of equipment are they?”
“like gun and else. but, they’re sophisticated, not like usual. this dealer is surely a good mechanic.” taecyeon frowned, he didn’t like the idea the dealer would run away and he continued, “i will catch them.”
that day, taecyeon entered the interrogation room and saw the thief smile to him.
“hi, officer.”
taecyeon snorted and sat down on the chair in front of the thief, “i never found a lawbreaker still smiling like you after sentenced to 22 years.”
“well, i don’t think i can accept that, but what else i can do?” junsu shrugged lightly.
taecyeon eyed junsu’s face carefully, “you don’t think you’re going to escape, right?”
once again, junsu shrugged with a smile.
“hopefully, you don’t. because this is maximum security prison, if you get caught, then your death will wait for you.” taecyeon sighed, “the securities won’t let you live.”
“i know that very much, thank you.” junsu chuckled, “so, what brings you to meet me, officer…?”
“taecyeon. i’m taecyeon.”
junsu nodded, “officer taecyeon.”
“at the first, you were interrogated for your crimes. now, i’ll interrogate you for your little friends.”
“i’m sure i’ve given my testimony about it.” junsu cocked his head, “i’ve told you that i know nothing about my dealer. our transaction was closed and we didn’t meet each other. isn’t it enough for you, officer taecyeon?”
“yeah, i know you’ve told it to us.”
junsu leaned back to his chair, “then what else? sorry to say, but i can’t help you.”
“we’ll track all dealers on our list. so, i need you to tell me about how you made transaction.”
junsu smiled then chuckled, “if my dealer was on your list, then they would have been caught now. they’re smart, slick and careful. you need more than my words to catch them.”
taecyeon looked up from the file on his hands and asked, “how do you know what they’re like if you haven’t meet them, junsu?”
“they don’t only have deal with me, but also with all people underground.”
“underground?” taecyeon asked again, “is it what you call the mafias?”
junsu sighed and shook his head, “listen, officer. underground doesn’t only contain the mafias, but also the dealers, killers, and many lawbreakers. you might have caught many suspects, but it’s not all. it’s not even a half of underground. here, under the seoul’s heartbeat, there are so many crimes you don’t know. got it?”
“what the…”
“sorry, officer.” a cop interrupted, “i know you’re on interrogation, but this is the lunch time. i have to bring junsu back to prison.”
“okay, okay, just bring him.” taecyeon nodded, he eyed junsu and said, “we’ll meet again later, junsu, you hear me?”
“i’m waiting for that time, officer.” junsu smirked and disappeared behind the closed door.
