I feel the same way, and I'm glad you're alive! Haven't seen a post from you in a while.

(Also, LOL at KFC having that sandwich that's just chicken with two pieces of fried chicken as the bun)

Our society is litigious. It's safer to throw food away than to risk a lawsuit over it, should it get tainted by someone else's germs or whatnot.

Quality has never been the highlight of our society. People will choose the lowest price most of the time. High quality items last longer and are remembered more but purchased least often. Appliances used to be built to last almost by accident. They reinforced them because they didn't know how to predict failure. Once computer modeling and design allowed them to measure tolerances, they started cutting corners and making things just good enough. No company can survive on items that were made to last forever.

Nothing is ever as good as we remember it. We remember the good stuff and not the bad. :)
