Video for thirdblindmouse @ Festivids 2015

NOTES:

Night / Day Watch are seriously one of the coolest movies i’ve ever seen. I think I’ve had this vid idea sitting in my mind since 2007. I went through my entire music collection to find a song for this movie, but it wasn’t until a year later that I discovered “Switchback” was a good fit. I had found another song that worked as well, but it didn’t quite have the save feel as “Switchback” and I definitely wanted a super upbeat song.

I started this video way back. I would vid little by little almost every year. For some reason I kept stalling from finishing this vid. Celldweller songs are tough! The first one I vidded (Own Little World Remixes) was the most difficult video I have ever made. So I felt like this one would be the same story. Once I actually started really getting into this vid, it all just fell into place and definitely was something I should have finished a long time ago. Every year for Festivids, I tried to finish this video to gift it to someone. But every year was the same story - I just kept wimping out.

I took a long break from Festivids and decided to come back for 2015. I actually hoped I would just get matched up with Night/Day Watch so then I would be forced into finishing this video and then I did! No excuses and no more backing out. It was time to finish this beast! So when I picked this video back up to vid, I had the first 40 seconds completed which was super cool to me already. In the back of my mind I was seriously panicking, “OMG.. Am I going to be able to make the rest of the video just as cool as the first 40 seconds I have done, but also make sense at the same time?!”

So basically I worried for nothing. I think this came out exactly how I was hoping it would. Actually it came out better than what I thought. This is also the first time in a really long time that I was completely 100% satisfied with the ending clip. The ending clip is always really important to me and I feel like my video sucks if I don’t find a good ending. I was cheering when I placed the last clip because it was perfect! If you watched the movie, I hope that it made sense to you! In the next paragraph I’ll explain a little just in case.

The whole idea of this video was to show Anton and the chaos that happens after the choices he had made. Basically, all of it would have not happened if he hadn’t made a deal with a witch. The song repeats, “It’s too late to look back, I’ve got no way to switch back” which I thought was perfect lyric because things were just going to keep getting worse and worse, and Anton couldn’t fix the war he started. Until the very end, The last second of the vid aka the last clip is the exact moment when he can actually “Switchback” and fix the mess.

I’m more than happy with this vid and I’m happy it’s completed! This video showed me that I can do anything I put my mind to even if the song is intimating or out of my comfort zone. Action vids are so much fun! I don’t think i’ll ever stop making these type of vids.
