It was the last day in September and the weather seemed to decide it was time to start getting cold. The rain was falling heavily outside and it was one of those days where you just didn't want to do anything but laze around in the warmth of your own home. Evie was at work, so after perusing the TV and finding nothing on, Riley had gone to lie down

Tab crept into the room and crawled up onto Riley's bed to join him under the blanket. "Luke's gone to get us some food," she offered by way of explanation. "Plus, I maybe wanted him out so I could tell you something."

Twenty-four hours and her entire world was once again on its head. This time though she was pretty sure it was the right way up. She needed some time with her brother, and since he was in here napping, she figured she'd come nap with him. Even if her idea of napping was talking.

"Unless you want me to leave you alone?"

Riley rolled on to his back to he could see her face. "Why would I want you to leave me alone? It was just fucking cold out there. Something to be said about the healing powers of bed on a rainy day." He untangled the blanket from his arm so he could offer more to her. It was more than big enough for both of them. "What do you want to tell me, squirt?"

Tab took her bit of blanket and easily curled up under it. She looked at Riley and gave him a small smile. "I love rainy days, but that's not what I wanted to tell you." Tab took a breath and her mouth formed a thin line. "I'm falling in love with Luke. And he is my boyfriend and I called him that. And also... I'm going to move in with him when we're back in New York."

Riley's eyebrows shot up and he laughed softly. "Well," he said, amused. "How do you feel about all of that? Or are you here to await the Apocalypse with your favourite brother?"

"You'll just have to save the horse for another time. I'm sure Evie will understand. I'm sorry it's hard, Big Bro. I just really wanted you to stop feeling like a leper when you're not." Tab shook her head. "No, I did say the wrong shit. Everything you said the other night was true. He didn't really think I was in this, and I am."

Riley shifted closer and rested his forehead against her shoulder. "Call it a male thing. Testosterone, whatever. We need the labels to feel wanted, squirt. Let's us know we're important."

"I get it now," she replied softly. "I didn't ever mean for him to think he wasn't important. He is. He really, really is. I couldn't have done any of this without him. I needed him here, and I need him still. I want him still."

"I know you didn't. I'm sure he knows it too. You had to be the one to set the boundaries though. He knows you're having a bad time and probably doesn't want to be the cause of any more pain." He was starting to feel a little cold again, so he tugged the blanket tighter around him. "I think he's good for you, squirt. I think he's going to be the one to give you what I've wanted you to feel since we were teenagers."
