On reading spoilers

Jul 16, 2005 08:30

I've just realised that I don't care if I read HBP spoilers or not, and that I have no real expectations/wishes for the new book. It's a bit of a surprise actually, and I wonder if it's got anything to do with being so disappointed last time - and having the big spoiler (that Sirius died) told to me by my (ex)bf while I was halfway through the ( Read more... )

I'm with you, actually. I was all set and hyped and ready for tonight, when I was supposed to go to the Borders downtown and wait for hours to get my book, and then yesterday I decided that I'd really rather just wait until the next morning after I'd gotten some sleep. I don't know. It's not that I'm not excited, because I really am, but I think that because I was so disappointed from last time (I, too, was told that Sirius died before hand.. although I was /again/ disappointed and heartbroken when it actually happened) I have less faith in JKR to not break me poor heart again.

Y'know, or something. I'm probably just being whiny and emo. ;) I really want to hiatus but I honestly don't think I can keep my computer off for that long, even if it is only a day or two. That's a sad addiction, I know. Anyway now I'm rambling, so--good luck, hopefully we won't be disappointed, and we will cry/cheer/etc together in a couple of days (or maybe hours).

haha - actually, I wasn't even going to get HBP today - cos I had two parties to plan and pretty much zero time in between. But I did get to a bookshop today and it actually had a Harry Potter book reading (and mini party) happening, which was ever so amusing.

I don't know what to say about the book so far. It's quite an interesting read - but, then again, it was quite easy to put down and come online/ colour my hair/ make sushi for tomorrow's party.

I imagine there's going to be a community set up for HBP mistakes/typo's missed by the editors (and really, I'd expect better from the editors - two mistakes so far, not that I'm actually counting.

*grin*

- as for your waiting in line thing and deciding not to bother with it - I already went through that with two LotR movies, so I've had my share of night queuing.
