I never imagined she'd kill someone; I always pictured Annie to just swim while everyone drowned around her. But I like your Annie so much better. Woooh, exciting. & I love how Finnick punched Joanna :D

Thank you! Finnick enjoyed punching Johanna too.

A lot of Annie's characterization comes from that Finnick actually says "No one becomes a victor by chance (except maybe Peeta)," and includes Annie in that number. She would have had to kill at least one person to really qualify for the title. And I think also that, well, she was a pretty scary girl. It's not a fairytale courtship, it's two broken people trying to put each other back together.

Wish I had time to leave a longer comment, but I'll just say that I really love this fic. Looking forward to the next part. :)

Don't worry, I completely understand the lack-of-time thing. I'm just glad you're enjoying the story so far, and luckily you won't have to wait long for the next part!

Holy crap. If the idea of a raging wall of water rushing down after the broken debris of a dam wasn't terrifying enough, Annie here was straight out of a Grimm's fairytale, (the kind where the monsters are legit) or a Japanese horror film, or a Greek myth. Whoa shit.

I love the sea. And they way you've written Annie and Finnick (the dialogue, the analogies, the imagery) evokes the aspects of the ocean that I respect the most: the beauty, the calm, sheer power, and the unknown.

Excuse me while I keep reading voraciously.

(Ha, you can probably blame Mith for that one, she's the more fairy-tale centric of us, though god knows I love them, too.)

The sea is absolutely central to this thing -- it's such a giant part of who the two of them are, even when they're away from it. (Your later comment about them embodying different aspects of the sea is spot-on; there's a lot in there about duality, too, and how water can both destroy and renew.)

Oh good; I'm glad I wasn't completely off on that note. You do a fantastic job of weaving that duality in their character, dialogue, and actions. It's hard to ignore. :)
