I'm fascinated with the contrast between public and private which you set up from the very beginning of this piece. It's thematic throughout, certainly (the whole story is basically underscored with the contrast between Capitol-Finnick and real-Finnick, and the question of whether the second one exists at all) but you pull it through in the very first two sections, with the paired private ritual of Finnick saying goodbye to the ocean and the public ritual of the Reaping. (Can I also note that the tidal quality of both of these is brilliantly expressed? Finnick leaves and returns to the ocean, like the tide, and Reaping comes around once a year, and pulls the tributes out -- under -- with it ( ... )
