*blush* Thank you so much! I'm really glad this was inspirational for you -- The Hunger Games was what got me out of my creative slump, and I'm ridiculously pleased to hear that my writing had that kind of effect on someone else.

And yeah, Finnick and Annie are love forever. ♥ Welcome to Livejournal, and thanks for reading!

Loving this so far. I always wished we had gotten to see more of their story, so as soon as I saw this I knew I had to read it. And it didn't disappoint. :)

So did I -- what we saw of Finnick and Annie in canon made me fall in love with them pretty much instantly, but there were so many great hooks for an even bigger story in there, and Mith and I had to follow through on that. So glad you're loving this so far, and I hope you keep enjoying it!

So I promised you both litcrit-y comments on each chapter, and comments you shall get! even if LJ makes me retype them, GRR

I'm fascinated with the contrast between public and private which you set up from the very beginning of this piece. It's thematic throughout, certainly (the whole story is basically underscored with the contrast between Capitol-Finnick and real-Finnick, and the question of whether the second one exists at all) but you pull it through in the very first two sections, with the paired private ritual of Finnick saying goodbye to the ocean and the public ritual of the Reaping. (Can I also note that the tidal quality of both of these is brilliantly expressed? Finnick leaves and returns to the ocean, like the tide, and Reaping comes around once a year, and pulls the tributes out -- under -- with it ( ... )

Thank you! I think "Oh, Finnick" was what mithrigil and I ended up saying to each other most often while we worked on this, so that's appropriate. *grins* Getting into the rhythm of the books took some time, but hey, this thing was long enough that we managed to find our groove.

So glad you're giving this one a shot!
