So Mith&Linden&I, acutely feeling the lack of World Cup in our lives, stumbled across a sporting goods store downtown and got the ~BRILLIANT IDEA~ to put together World Cup cosplays for America, France, and England. We'll probably do a proper shoot with these babies sometime in August (and I think we are also getting an adesso for Spain and a moonsheen for Romano ( Read more... )

See icon.

Edit: Which is a quotation from Coriolanus; he delivers the line as a sort of 'Screw you!' to Rome, but it resonates on so many other levels for me.

Mmm, yes. Coriolanus has such lovely language, and that line resonates in a lot of the same places that the one I talked about above does.

lol, i know there are some, but i can't remember those from literature XD

so i'll leave you with a fanfiction quote! /shot/ from inuyashacooks:

Ugh, Spain's such a bastard, Romano thinks for the hundredth time today- he constantly does this- sweeps away shaded doubts with nothing but a bright laugh, nothing but his constant sun.

this has always stayed with me; it bothers me at night when i'm trying to sleep.

lol i'll prolly spam you with more later when i remember (if you don't mind, that is.)

If you can't remember them, it kind of defeats the purpose of this. *grins* But spamming me later is totally cool.

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." from Hunter S. Thompson just always makes me smile. :)

Hee. Hunter S. Thompson is great for lines with just the right amount of bite. And weirdness.

There's also a great one from Kurt Vonnegut that I can't find right now about how antibiotics are making germs stronger and we'll all eventually be killed by athlete's foot and acne.

I HAVE A WEIRD SENSE OF HUMOR YOU CAN PROBABLY TELL

...! Which store would this be? I've wanted to get a jersey to derp aorund in for the longest time. ;-; You guys all look great though! Super cute~

Umm, I've never had a knack for remembering lines that really pop out at me, but I've always liked this scene from Pushing Daisies.Ned: I asked you not to the word 'zombie', it's disrespectful. Stumbling around, squawking for brains, it's not how they do. An undead, nobody wants to be un-anything. Why begin a statement with a negative? It's like saying 'I don't disagree.' Just say 'agree'.

Emerson: Are you comfortable with living dead?

Ned: You're either living or you're dead. When you're living, you're alive; when you're dead, that's what you are. But when you're dead, then you're not, you're alive again. Can't we say 'alive again'? Doesn't that sound nice?

Paragon Sports! It's on Broadway and 18th. Mith got the jersey there (we ended up ordering the rest of the costumes online, though the vendor we picked was horrid.)

*snicker* I always meant to watch Pushing Daisies, and never did. Someday I should remedy this.

I think they should still have a lot of the WC jerseys in stock, and maybe they'll even be cheaper now.

I think I would, too! Gah, I have such a TV backlog.

GRRM does this to me. But this is the quote that stays with me always:

"Love is the bane of honor, the death of duty... A craven can be as brave as any man, when there is nothing to fear. And we all do our duty, when there is no cost to it. How easy it seems then, to walk the path of honor. Yet soon or late in a man's life comes a day when it is not easy, a day when he must choose."

It just gets to me all the time. IDK why.

*sigh* GRRM has some gorgeous lines, yeah -- and that one kind of hits me in the chest. And the narrative-kink.

Now if only he would write again.

Yes he does. Someone said that that line pretty much describes the whole ASoIaF series. He always have liked that, GRRM: "The heart in conflict with itself."

He has some lines with Tyrion that I adore, like "Those are brave me. Let's go kill them." Or when he was talking with Jon and sorta comforting him about his bastardy.

I knoooow. Have you read this, then? ♥

It's a good thematic encapsulation, yeah. And Tyrion. Tyrion gets all the best lines. ♥ (Well, okay, Dolorous Edd might be the best Deadpan Snarker of them all, but.) I missed him so much in Feast for Crows.

I haven't, but oh do I ever sympathize. Didn't he say he was halfway into Dance with Dragons when Feast for Crows was published? ;_;
