Field Guide to Mith, Puel, and Linden

Apr 24, 2010 13:02

So I've seen a few other people on my friendslist do this, and I think it's a nifty idea. In short: mithrigil, lindensphinx, and I live together or we will once I move to NYC for good, at any rate, and have a ton of overlapping interests and group projects, but we're also notably different in a lot of ways. We realize a lot of you guys probably know us primarily ( Read more... )

I love this. Very true and honest summaries here. I don't even think I HAVE a metatheme, haha.

Glad you got a kick out of it! (Honestly, I think a lot of our metathemes emerge out of the stuff we focus on most in real life, which then seeps into our writing. Author Appeal and whatnot.)

Q: Kitties?

A:
Mith: Kittieeees~
Puel: Kitties!
Linden: Kitties.

There should also be a restaurant guide on where to take your MithPuelLinden for dinner. And a height chart, just for hilarity.

-- that is extraordinarily accurate. *snerk*

Oh, not a bad idea! I think our food preferences overlap a lot, and we all like Asian cuisine, but I am definitely more fond of Mexican than Mith is, for one...

Oh god, height chart. Mith is like AMAZON and Linden is SCALED-DOWN AMAZON and I am STICK.

There's the whole 'carnivorous/non-carnivorous' thing! And opinions on how much sugar should go into whatever.

... or we could talk about BEVERARGES. coffeecoffeecoffeekolkolkol.

SO MANY THINGS. (I did put in the heights, though, because that's hilarious.)

Oh god you really do get like that about coffee, don't you. Either that or you do the "da?" thing with "Coffee? :D :D :D"

It's one of those "I am trying very hard not to bang my head against the nearest flat surface" moments for me. Just. Ugh. Hate how that word's been stigmatized.

does Shakespeare count?

DO YOU EVEN NEED TO ASK.

Also, this makes me giggle, and Linden's list of dislikes reminds me that someday in one of my academic AU fics I want to let Anne rant about bananas (THIS TOTALLY MAKES SENSE IN CONTEXT).

NO, NOT REALLY. *grins*

I am now curious about the context! (And yeah, we all have our fruit dislikes: Linden doesn't like bananas, I'm not keen on mangoes, Mith does not want prunes.)

Context is that academic!au Anne grew up in East Berlin and is an ardent small-c communist in spite of it. Bananas were something of a symbol of cultural differences between East and West Germany, and Anne's banana rant is basically that they are the perfect symbol of a capitalist culture which purports to represent freedom but actually tastes cloying and gross and kind of squishy. YES THIS AU HAS COMPLETELY EATEN MY BRAIN.

(I do not share Anne's opinion on bananas qua bananas though! I think they're delicious!)
