As Jessica Adams says, the roots of 'nostalgia' are in the words for 'wounds of returning.' And you know, there's a kind of truth in that.

And I still need to read all of your Baccano! fic.

Oh, definitely. It's just never one I've found attractive, I think; there's merit in learning about and reflecting on the past, undoubtedly, I wouldn't like history so much if I didn't think that, but I've never been one for the "those were the good old days" mentality. Attempting to go back to days past strikes me as not only foolish but abhorrent, and it always has, to some extent. I don't even know if I can articulate why, except that I've always been someone who's lived very much in the present with an eye towards the future, and I want to know how to live in the world right now.

Mith and Linden and I have lots of conversations about this, because they come at it from very different angles than I do.

I didn't write that much of it, truth be told -- there's But Then I Shall Know..., and the Claire/Chane one, and the Luck/Eve, and the Luck/Firo, and I think the rest was all in drabbles? It was a while ago.

YES YOU CAN DO IT. YES YOU CAN. /waves banner, as she is on crunch time as well

I'm actually devoting two days solely for my US/UK secret santa fill this Sat/Sun. My recipient is a bit intimidating.

And congrats to you and Mith. O/

Also, yes yes yes Memento Mori. As soon as I finish editing my threeoh crap I mean FOUR 35 pages each industrial relations academic papers due today I shall re-read them. ♥

/oh lord is it ever crunch time

Thank you! She is the best Mith ever. ♥

Luckily, I kind of love the prompt I have for my Secret Santa fill, and it's something I can definitely just sit down and write when the opportunity presents itself. I just have to find the time for that to happen -- and I might have to scale back my ambitions for Yuletide, at this rate, but we'll see.

Rereading that one hurts, but it hurts so good. Well, for me it does, at any rate. Oh god boys.

Good luck getting everything done!

Thanks! I am surprised that it's been this long, but not that we've made it for so long, if that makes sense?

Haha, you mean like one of those things where you're sitting at a coffee shop reading a magazine and IT'S BEEN 3 HOURS because it's not like you're impressed with the length of time, just how fast it went? I think I get it--just one of those expanses of time where you look back and it's felt like it hasn't been so wonderfully long as it has.

It's almost a month for me already; I'm still confused, haha.

Pretty much, yeah! Either that or my girlfriend is a temporal anomaly who warps spacetime with the power of her mind and seems to either speed or slow its passage, but I think she'd have told me already if that were true.

Trust me, that happens, too. Alllll the time.

(eeeee, America/Liet from you! I anticipate this highly!)
I love them so. I don't even know when I started shipping them as hard as I do! But I ship them really really hard, apparently. aaaw.

Hee. I don't know if I've written anything I'd call Silent Hill-esque, but they are fun fun games. And by fun I mean "oh god I am never going to sleep again, Silent Hill 2, thank you SO much."

Wiki is correct! ♥ I really do not know why there's so little fanwork of them. I mean, they share a bed! In canon! Lithuania cooks him breakfast!

That sounds like a good solution! (Although Silent Hill-esque Daffodils prequel -- aaaaaaahohow. But in a good way. Or in an effective way, at least. Man, I haven't written real horror with the Hetalia cast in ages, not since, uh, Valentine's Day.) I cannot wait to see what you come up with, though, rarepairs or no. (Which rarepairs, if I might ask?)
