You really shouldn't be all that worried :P Kishimoto has a problem killing main characters. I'd actually respect him more if she were actually dead. ^^;
I really don't think he has that problem. Especially lately. Which I understand, and I'm not mad about anybody he's killed yet. They were all important emotional moments in the story. So is this, but... like I said, she was essential to my happy ending.
(I did have an inner squee at Naruto's reaction, though. I mean, no one else's death has had this kind of reaction from him, and that made me happy.)
