Down at the stableyard for half ten. The sky very dark and threatening. But the rain held off as we led the horses out of the stables, adjusted stirrups, tightened girths, led horses over to the mounting block to climb on board - and only once we were all in the saddle and setting off did the rain begin to fall quite heavily ( Read more... )

I'm thinking the buzzard was trying to convince you all that he was hunting truffles.

Despite the rain and the not-so-synchronized peeing, it sounds like a good ride was had by all. Handy to have a weather-sensitive as ride leader.

It's hard for a great bird of prey to maintain dignity when scratching around like a chicken.

I love riding in the rain... But not in the solid, hammering, still-emptying-rain-from-your-riding-boots-a-week-later rain. T.'s weather sense saved us all from an almighty drenching.
