Mid-morning down at the riding stables on another cool grey summer day. No terriers to greet me with a cheerful bark - they were all curled up on the chairs in the office

Boots is a star. The riding school staff all love him - a sure sign that he's a real sweetheart.

I used to love those sorts of hacks. Apart from the encounter with the monster Landrover, it sounds quite idyllic.

It was lovely... And I don't mind the grey weather at all for riding - much nicer than having to battle through clouds of flies with the sun blasting down!
