I don't think I'd like the camber on that upper level. I have visited Lyme Regis once, many years ago and can't remember anything about it other than the Cobb and a very nice chicken and ham pie we bought to eat as an impromptu picnic.

I didn't use to notice the camber when I was younger, and the steep stone steps down onto the lower wall never used to bother me at all, but I'm losing my nerve a bit these days.

I always associate Lyme Regis with The French Lieutenant's Woman. 😀

I've never read the book, but I think I might have seen the film years ago. I can remember the iconic shots of Meryl Streep on the Cobb.

Yes. John Fowles lived in Lyme for many years.

I must admit, I haven't read The French Lieutenant's Woman. I developed a strong prejudice against Fowles after reading The Collector.

What a wonderful tour.

Your photos only deepen my wish to live in England.

Lyme Regis is such a beautiful place, but it really is an exception. Most seaside towns in the UK tend to be lively places in the summer, but rather rundown and desolate in the winter.

Great pics.
I got sucked across the road and into a bookshop by some sort of strong literary force,
lol

Thank you!

It is so very hard to pass a bookshop. 😊

I admire your knowledge of feathered creatures.

I had to look the Turnstones up in my field guide when I got home. I don't know my wading birds very well. Luckily it was a very close encounter and I had no trouble identifying them from the photos.
