Darkness all day. Torrential rain. The roads were awash on my drive into work this morning (in the dark), and were even more awash on my drive home from work this afternoon (in the dark ( Read more... )

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.

Hope there's no permanent damage. WHY would anyone create a 'quick car flood' button? Mysterious.

According to the wisdom of Google, the feature is called 'Global Closure' and it is almost impossible to trigger by accident.

Yeah. Right.

The seats are still sadly damp, and will probably remain so for a long time, but I have a pile of old dog towels to sit on. The airbag warning light is no longer on, thank heavens, so hopefully no permanent damage done.

I cannot imagine why anyone would devise a key fob that wound all the windows down. Why would you want to do that from outside the car?

I drove us to Aberystwyth yesterday and despite the BBC weather forecast the day before warning of torrential rain and gales in Cardigan Bay, the drive there was mostly in the dry. We did troop around the shops in the drizzle, but again managed to drive home today before the heavy rain started.

According to the wisdom of Google, the feature is called 'Global Closure', which seems ironic. It is supposed to be almost impossible to trigger by accident. So it's just me, then.

Yesterday was horrendous here. I just about managed to make it home. But when my sister tried to take the same road an hour later, it was closed due to flooding.

I had that 'open window' problem with my Skoda key. If I sat on the key in the wrong way when at home, the windows would wind down out in the street! The garage told me it was due to a continuous press on the key, but didn't tell me how to stop it. In the end, after a Google suggestion, I went into the menu on the display in my car, and found in the car menu a slider switch that turned the function off. I hope you might find that switch on your car too?

Thank you! I think I've found the instructions to switch this terrible function off!
