But I suppose any small village near the county borders has connections in two or three counties - the county name is just a convenient postage address.
That's another wonderful walk. I'm glad the village is thriving and has a shop/cafe. There are an increasing number of these little enterprises run by volunteers.
Wellingtons are not really fun to walk in but excellent for fording streams. When we were making a second attempt at reaching a rock outcrop which was miles from even a rough track, we carried wellingtons so we could ford the river and cross a wet bit of mountain but then changed back into boots for the drier parts of the route.
Yes, it's wonderful to see a village shop - or pub - finding a way to survive against all the odds. And it's so nice to unexpectedly come across somewhere to have a coffee and a croissant at the end of a walk!
That's a really good idea - carrying the wellies against need. There are certain stretches on certain walks that are often impassable in walking boots, and I really cannot walk long distances in wellies these days.

Thank goodness for having wellies on. Cows sure can be very curious.

Yes, I wouldn't have got far that day if I had worn my walking boots... So many fords to cross.
Yes. This time of year, when the young cattle have just been turned out in the fields, they are immensely curious. I hope they calm down soon!
