It's so easy to get lost. I say, 'just keep turning right and you're bound to get where you want to be' and sometimes it works. A couple of days ago, I came to a T junction and yes, there was a post with no road signs. I turned right, of course.
It was good to be up on a hillfort again. Once you're up there, it's like two thousand years of human ritual takes over, and it's almost impossible to resist walking a complete circuit of the ramparts.
Yes, in this part of Dorset most of the old hedges and the hedgerow trees survive. It's wonderful to see the traditional patchwork landscape - it's increasingly rare in these days of modern agriculture.
When I used to work in Ruthin, I travelled around Denbighshire which has main roads and a network of little lanes running between them. It is so tempting to think, "I could take a short cut through there," but you could easily lose half an hour trying to find your way, even though the signposts still have their arms.
Re hot car interiors, I didn't really want a white car as I feel white is a bit boring, however, I must admit that a white car doesn't get quite as hot in the sun as a red one does. :-)
Yes, those country lane shortcuts are never as short as you think they will be! And in these days of satnavs, you usually meet far more traffic along them, and are forever having to reverse back to the nearest passing place...
I hadn't thought about the advantages of owning a white car in summer. I had only thought about the disadvantages of owning a white car in winter, when the roads are muddy!

If there is a choice of left or right at a crossroads, I have a particular gift for choosing the road heading away from my destination!
