Someone or more than one someone is complaining about one author filling too many prompts and one of them actually went as far to say they can't stand the author's work. Thankfully not everyone has the 'someone did it already so why try to put a new spin on it' attitude, otherwise we wouldn't even have the angst meme since the kink meme was first.

I have to ask since we're such a fic-based comm. What do you think about the attention EL James is getting for rewriting her fanfic into an adult novel, have you read the Fifty Shades series, and would you consider rewriting a fanfic if there seemed to be interest?

It's weird because she isn't the first person who did it. Cassandra Claire did it as well but I heard this one was based off of Twilight. I don't know if I could ever do that because I would know where it came from. If I got into writing fiction for a publishing company, I would want to do something totally new :)

That's one of the things I've never been sure about with Clare's books. I know she's been accused of taking parts of her fanfics into her books but are they basically the same as her fanfics or did she just bring some parts into her new stuff. I haven't read her stuff but I did read Fifty Shades after it was recommended to me for the 50th time. I kept picturing Kurt as Christian Grey, the young CEO who doesn't do love, just sex with contracts.

I didn't read either. I have one of Claire's books (gotten for free) on my kindle because I am curious because she was so notorious in both Buffy and Harry Potter fandoms.

My mom told me that someone said Fifty Shades was just technically porn LOL. Really? I think I heard that it was based off a Twilight fic and she just hit find and replace. A lot of people are accusing her of plagiarizing Stephanie Meyers (which really isn't something you would want to admit to). That being said was it any good?
