We've tried to consolidate and clarify the posting rules for
puckurt. On the whole, we're a laid back community, we love fic, and we're fairly "anything goes" as long as it's in some way related to Puck/Kurt. Hopefully, we've managed to explain everything in a clear and relatively concise manner, but if there's still any doubt as to how to post fic or what you can/can't post, please feel free to ask!
First, the question of content. Some fic is appropriate for this community, while other fic belongs in different glee communities. We affiliate with quite a few of them, including comms for other ships, so take a look at the user info for some potential alternative places to post stories that don't fit into this community.
Fic that DOES belong in
puckurt includes:
- Puck/Kurt is the only pairing, romantically or as friends.
- Puck/Kurt is the main pairing, and there are other ships that do not include Puck or Kurt (such as Finn/Rachel, Tina/Mike, etc.)
- Puck/Kurt is the main romantic pairing, but there are other Puck or Kurt relationships in the background or past.
- Puck/Kurt is the main romantic pairing, but there are additional partners involved (such as Puckurt/Sam).
- Puck or Kurt are paired with others for part of the fic, but with Puck/Kurt endgame.
- Kurt- or Puck-centric fic with no pairing (character studies, etc.).
- Gen/ensemble fic that contains Puck/Kurt as a romantic pairing.
- Mark/Chris RPF, following the rules above.
Fic that DOES NOT belong in
puckurt includes:
- No Puck/Kurt at all.
- Puck/Kurt are not romantically paired with each other, but with other people, and there is no Puck/Kurt endgame.
When posting fic to
puckurt, please:
- Use the full appropriate header (detailed below)
- Include warnings, especially for violence, self-harm/suicide, non/dub-con, domestic/child/sexual abuse, incest
- Place header outside of the cut tag and the body of the fic behind a cut tag
- Feel free to post your fic in your own journal/elsewhere and link in lieu of placing the fic behind a cut tag.
- Include appropriate tags, including rating. If you need an author or series tag, please comment on the contact-a-mod post with a link to a post we can tag and what you’d like your series tag to say (keep in mind character limits).
- If posting a multipart fic (WIP or complete), please either include a series tag or link to the previous parts after the header.
- Use the default font, font color, font size, background color, and community formatting. Please do not change the font (color/size/etc.) or background on your post.
- Ask any questions about tags/rating BEFORE posting. We respond quickly to comments on the contact-a-mod post.
Please use this header template for all fics posted in

Regarding ratings on fic
We believe this can be summed up very simply in the following sentence: "I like sitting with you on the park bench, holding hands(G), then kissing you(PG), with my tongue in your mouth (PG-13), while I lay you down naked and make sweet love to you (R), with my enormous **** in your ass (NC-17)." We ask that you consider where in this sentence your fic falls and choose your rating appropriately. When in doubt, ask a mod or go up a rating.
Regarding warnings on fic
The purpose of a warning is to let the reader know what s/he is getting before s/he clicks on the link/cut tag. Some subject matter is very triggering for certain readers, while other simply falls outside the purview of the types of stories that readers enjoy and feel comfortable reading.
The following must be included in the warnings if they are present in your fic: Child abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual), domestic abuse/violence, incest, non-con/dub-con, graphic violence, suicide/self-harm, major character death. If your fic contains these situations and you do not warn for them, you’ll be given an opportunity to update your header, after which time your fic will be deleted.
We strongly suggest you include warnings for the following: Minor character death, kinks (BDSM/slave, bloodplay, breathplay, scat, etc. -- if it’s something you’d prompt on the kink meme, consider warning for it), Mpreg, OOC character behavior (ex. Kurt suddenly enjoys engaging in heterosexual sex).
Issues of Character Behavior (ie. "character bashing" in fic)
We’re only addressing this issue because we’ve had specific questions about whether or not negative character portrayals within fic are considered "bashing."
Writers all bring individual interpretations of characters to their fiction. We pick up on different subtext, imagine different possible outcomes, and write from different personal perspectives and from different character POVs. The result of this is, within any given fic, not all characters will be portrayed in a positive light. Sometimes, characters will be portrayed in a downright negative light by either the author or the other characters within the story. As you know from watching Glee, characters often have some choice and unflattering words about each other, and they sometimes behave in ways that enrage or frustrate us.
While we do encourage a policy of positive and respectful interaction between community members, which includes exhibiting self-control and sometimes curbing the negative talk when speaking of other characters/ships within discussions posts, this policy does not extend to fanfiction and limiting authors’ ability to portray characters as they feel appropriate for their stories. We encourage the use of OOC warnings for fic where characters are portrayed in a way very different from the show (as well as the use of other appropriate warnings for violence, assault, etc.), but we don’t expect warnings for negative character interactions/portrayals.
In other words, negative portrayals of characters within fic do not fall under "bashing" policies. Those policies are to maintain a positive environment in discussion and other non-fic posts, not to limit authors’ creative license.
