Holy crap, I always knew hyenas were a f-ed up creation but sheesh. I guess there is no penis envy in that species.
Weird stuff.... uhh, old firehouses had circular stares so the horses that pulled the firewagon couldn't come upstairs :-)

My understanding is that it's actually a massive clitoris. Hyena females apparently have a lot of testosterone, and hyena packs are matriarchal. It's not a functioning penis - they can't inseminate anything, etc. - but it certainly makes you do a double-take!
