The Barchester Chronicles: The final ep was too rushed. Many things were left unexplained. They probably had to cut out many scenes from the books. In spite of that, it's a wonderful series, with amazing actors.

House: I was enjoying Season 6 a lot, but I didn't like the last ep I watched, the 6.07, "Teamwork". (We're two or three weeks behind in ( Read more... )

I enjoyed The Barchester Chronicles, but I do agree with you about the rushed feeling in the end.

I've downloaded what I believe to be the second book, "Barchester Towers", but I haven't read it yet. Have you read it? Did you like it?

Ooooh, you are in for a treat.

Technically speaking, Barchester Towers is the second book of the six-book Barchester series, but I don't think you'll miss anything by skipping The Warden first, it's not that memorable, but Towers is considered a major classic.

Most of the books I think you can do pretty well a standalones. I've read 1) The Warden, 2) Barchester Towers, but not 3) Doctor Thorne, I've read 4) Framley Parsonage, but not 5) The Small House at Allington, and have read 6) The Last Chronicle of Barset. There's enough explanation within the text of who everyone is and what's happened between books that I didn't feel lost by not having read them all in sequence. 2, 4, and 6 are all superb in different ways.

Thanks for the explanation. It looks great! I'll begin by Barchester Towers. Unfortunately, I don't have much time now, but let's see what I can do...
