Hmpf... Problems with writing.

Don't kill me, readers. Here's my story: the new Snarry fic, that "intense and smutty" story, turned out to be even harder to write than the detective story, in a way. The problem is, I started writing the story based on a determined characterisation of Harry, and suddenly I found out that I hate this Harry and don't want to write him at all. I can ( Read more... )

Detective Story sounds great. If you hate that Harry so much, why not just drabble him? It's only a suggestion, of course...

What exactly do you mean with "drabble"? *is puzzled*

What a lovely icon!

I meant a drabble. Write only 100 words with the guy. Or 2 X 100.

Ahahaha, I thought you wanted me to "mud" Harry. Well, I have about 4,000 words, but I don't think I have a drabble. The whole story was based on Harry's characterisation, but it was something that would require about 5,000 words to be developped. The only possibility I can see for this story right now is to "frame" it into another plot, for instance. But I don't know if it's not too much trouble. I'll work on the detective story now and then I'll think about this other story.

Well, take your time until you have something that pleases you... You can go as slow as you want. You know we love your stories so much ! We won't complain and we'll wait, promise !
The detective story seems so promising... ha ha !

Yeah, I know, but I'm so frustrated, because nothing seems to be working :(. Anyway, maybe these new ideas will move the detective story ahead. I'm still hopeful!

Sosorry that Harry is giving you fits. Naughty Harry! Take your time with it. Do the dectective story. Maybe in the break you take Harry will behave himself and grow into a new person. Yea, I know .... not likely. Don't worry on it! You have enough stress and time crunches.

Wise words, friend, that's what I'm trying to do! *hugs*

Oh, that's so frustrating! I think you should just let it flow, though, and let what comes, come. It'll be a better story that way in any case.

Though I can totally sympathize with wanting to finish it!

The problem is that I can't let it flow, because I don't like where it is going. In order to finish it, I'd have to change everything. Maybe it's not worth the trouble.

Thanks!

Don't worry about rushing to post something. Take your time and let it be something you are happy with. We can wait.

Sorry you don't like the Harry you wrote. You can do any of the following:
-Drop it. Let it go and leave the story. It happens.

-Put it away and come back to it later. Maybe after some time away you'll be refreshed with ideas and inspiration for it.

-Finish it. Whether you complete it right away or come back to it - whether you like Harry or not - finish it. You can use it as a challenge or excercise of your writing skills to complete the story with a main character you don't like.

-Other :)

But mostly, be happy. There is no need for you to apologise. *hugs*

Thank you! I still don't know what I'll do, but you have outlined the options perfectly. If English was my native language, I'd finish it. But because translating it's such a time consuming task, I don't think I'll do it if I don't like the story.
