The detective story has already 5,000 words. I told you it was going to have 10,000 words in the total, but... I have no idea. It's a mined territory. The more I write, the harder it gets. When I hit the 4,900 words, I found a big hole in the story. I had to deconstruct and reconstruct everything, bit by bit. I think I solved the problem, but OMG, ( Read more... )

I am up to my ears in kids this weekend. It's a holiday weekend in the USA, so all the kids have a three day weekend. And I think all of them have been playing at my house! It's a mess, and to top it offit snowed 7 inches last night

Ha! They are playing outside! IT is great to finally get snow! In the winter, unless there is snow, you can't play outside. Now they can snowmobile and sled.

Oh, I sympathize. I hit a hole in my own story that needed fixing when I got to nearly 30,000! I have just now finally patched all the bits that needed work and can continue on, but it was a major rethinking point for me.

Bah. I'm 60000 words into my WIP that I'm finished and about to post the last chapter of, and I realised that I had forgotten to mention something. I'm an idiot.

(Well, not according to the IQ test I just took, but anyway...)

Nah, of course you're not an idiot. That happens to everybody. It happened to me, too, more than once. I was writing the last chapter of "Baphomet II" when I realised I had forgotten something. I've edited the chapter and went ahead. Those who read the story before didn't read the passage I added later. What could have I done? That's life.
